It is shocking how the iconic Kayani Bakery has been ordered to draw its shutter down following a verbal communication from Pune Cantonment Board (PCB).

My 2 cents on the situation.

1. What were the authorities doing all this while, if the bakery’s license had expired 11 years ago? Why weren’t there notices issued to these businesses the very year their licenses expired?

2. If there is any lapse on the part of the Kayani's then why not settle the matter amicably rather than closing down such an iconic joint? Pune is synonymous with the name Kayani, it will be a shame if the government authorities fail to keep this business alive.

3. The owner of another restaurant Bagban which has been asked to close down along with Kayani Bakery claims he has been applying for a license every year but it has been denied. Is there a hidden agenda for targeting these select outlet?
