Publish the Timbuctoo Books for the UK and other Countries
The Issue
Roger Hargreaves, a British author, created the much beloved Mr. Men Little Miss Series throughout the 1970s and 1980s before his passing in 1988. Hello made approximately 39 Mr. Men Characters (41 including Mr. Nobody and Mr. Christmas) and 18 Little Miss. However with the big, massive and well-deserved success the Mr. Men Little Miss Books were, it's easy to see another book series had been kept in the shadows... TIMBUCTOO.
The name, may or may not make you feel nostalgic? Roger created Timbuctoo between 1978-79 (before the Little Miss Books) and it is set on an Island, called Timbuctoo, and centres around animals, looking similar to Mr. Men (or Little Miss), with names based on what that animal makes.
Timbuctoo has always been slightly shadowed by the Mr. Men but was very relevant in the late 1970s and early 1980s - with 26 books and 2 annuals (a success during that time period) and was continuing to be printed throughout the decade tha followed.
After Roger Hargreaves' death in 1988, the Mr. Men had books created in France and a TV Series in the mid-1990s with Adam Hargreaves, Roger's Son, as design consultant, Timbuctoo was no too prevalent.
However in the late 1990s Timbuctoo became prevalent in the public consciousness once again, with newly illustrated books by Adam, published by Egmont World (now known as Farshore Publishing, owned by HarperCollins Publishing), who publish the Mr. Men and Little Miss Books as well as a TV Series (2 series of 13 episodes) with Adam as a design consultant and that was that. Nothing heard from Timbuctoo.
Timbuctoo videos and stories sell for alot of money and read-throughs of the books often appear on YouTube, which young people still enjoy showing there is still a market, along with the Mr. Men for these books.
I have made this petition to kindly ask The Publishers of Farshore if it is at all possible to publish these books again, even as a limited edition set as it would bring these characters back into subconscious and also be a massive connection between those children and adults who like animals and the stories of the Mr. Men Little Miss Books.
