Stop the proposed Pickaway County Power Plant

Stop the proposed Pickaway County Power Plant

The Issue

Because of the underground natural gas lines and the high tension power lines that run through Pickaway County,OH, a company named NTE Energy is trying to purchase land in our area to build a Combined Cycle Natural Gas plant.  The proposed locations for the plant are in the Western part of the county, an area that is predominantly farmland. It's residents prize this area for the peace and quiet and rural appeal. Many that live here drive to Columbus for work and come home to enjoy the wide open country views and the stars at night.  One of NTE Energy's proposed locations is a mere 1/2 mile from our schools (our Elementary, Middle School and High School are all on one campus).  The proposed Power Plant would sit on roughly 40 acres and boast two stacks 160-190' tall, 16 large cooling towers that are 60' high, large industrial buildings that house turbines and generators as well as needing to pipe in 6-8 million gallons of water a day and would be seen for miles.  We are not willing to gamble with the health and safety of our school children or that of our community members.  We are very concerned about the gasses and particulates that will be emitted from this Power Plant as well as the dangers of all the extra traffic during the  2-3 year construction phase.  We are concerned for our water supply and how this will effect the natural surroundings.  There are Bald eagles that nest not far from the proposed sites.  Please help us keep this Power Plant from being built.  We do not want a Power Plant here!
