Masjid Umar Dewsbury, one of the first houses of Allah in our area built and populated with the toil, blood and sweat of our elders (such as many of the late respected fathers and grandfathers of these criminal committee members) has shockingly become a haven for fraudulent crooks in religious garb whose only contribution to the masjid has been to rinse the bank accounts for their fatcat expenses, homes, foreign travels, property developments, closure of Muslim schools, money-laundering and luxury cars while preaching pristine purity and morality to others.

Despite scandal after scandal and the ‘resignation’ of one fraudster who had unfettered access to masjid finances, the committee has refused to engage with any concerned members of the public or issue any statement vowing to take action.

Let it be known to these committee members that this is the house of Allah and not your personal property. It runs with the donations of the many generous members who rely on the integrity of those managing the masjid finances.

It has been brought to attention that since these fraudulent activities were exposed some of these miscreants have fled to neighbouring Masjids in Savile town where they are attempting to continue their legacy of mischief and criminality (a leopard never changes its spots).

As has become clear in recent weeks (through recorded and leaked phone calls) one of the fraudsters who was sitting on the fraudulent committee attempted to squander public money of another local masjid. Anyone may visit this masjid and enquire about the conduct of this fraudster; they will happily fill you in and corroborate our story!

In light of all of this We the undersigned demand the immediate opening and transparency of all Masjid umar accounts for the past 15 years and the immediate suspension of any committee members found to have behaved unethically pending a full investigation. Anyone found to have behaved unethically is then to be dismissed permanently. This is the duty of any responsible Masjid committee. Any Masjid Umar commitee member unable to fulful this duty should resign.

Failure to do so will result in complaints being made to the charities commission until they decide to investigate. The recent exposure in the national press of another fraudulent Masjid committee and the upheaval that has caused should serve as a reminder to both the fraudulent Masjid e Umar committee and the wider public about just where ‘sweeping things under the carpet’ can lead.

Until these matters are resolved the public should withold any further donations. You donate your hard earned money for the running of Allahs house; not to fill the bottomless pockets of these criminals; many of whom haven’t done an honest days work in their lives!
