The Class of 2022 Public Health students applied nearly 2 years ago into San Francisco State's Public Health program and since then, have learned about public health. Health education is defined as maintaining personal health as opposed to the community based preventions in healthcare that we've learned in public health. Giving us a degree in "Health Education" is misleading to the material we have been studying from epidemiology, levels of prevention, the ecological model, policy advocacy, etc. Giving us a degree in "Public Health" will correctly define the knowledge we will be walking away from San Francisco State University with. This properly titled degree will also not create confusion when approaching future employers or furthering our education.
