Dear Supporters,
In our third installment of violence against NYS Parole Officers, we take you to Queens, NY, where on April 29, 2026, while taking parolee Adam Adams into custody on a parole violation, he blew a mixture of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine into the face of Parole Officer T. Birdell.
Parole Officer Birdell was transported to the hospital after experiencing burning and redness in her eyes along with numbness and irritation to her face. We hope she has a speedy recovery.
Adams was arrested by the NYPD and charged with assault on a police officer, a class C felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, along with harassment charges. We encourage Parole Officers to show up to court as a show of force every time Adams has a court appearance.
Let’s be clear, this assault is a direct result of “LESS is MORE” parole reform. Parolees no longer fear parole because there is little to no consequences and no more law and order.
To add insult to injury, the union representing NYS Parole Officers, the Public Employees Federation (PEF) abandoned its officers once again when it failed to mention the disastrous effects of “LESS is MORE” parole reform in an interview with The Chief and other media outlets.
Since PEF has abandoned Parole Officers, we’re asking Parole Officers to abandon PEF by not paying union dues.
Parole Officers deserve to be represented by a law enforcement union like the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA).
If you agree, please email this petition update to PEF President Wayne Spence at Wspence@pef.org and PEF Parole Division 236 Council Leader G. Lopez at Glopez@pef.org.
In solidarity,
New York State Parole Officers
