Dear Supporters,
Due to your social activism, we’ve received a response from the Public Employees Federation’s (PEF) Legislative Director, Mr. Patrick Lyons. Please read his response below and take further action. Thank you!
Thank you for contacting your union regarding this important issue. As you know, PEF represents members in 3,000 different job titles across 57 state agencies, including around 450 members in Community Supervisoin. All of our members, especially those in Tier 6, want better retirement benefits and to be able to access those benefits sooner. To that end, PEF has been fully engaged in improving the Tier 6 retirement plan which affects the 60% of PEF members who are participants in that plan.
If you and/or any of your colleagues would like PEF to pursue a 25 year retirement plan for you and the other parole officers separate and apart from other PEF members, I encourage you to contact your Division leadership (GLopez@PEF.org) to discuss how you can pursue a resolution for consideration at the next PEF convention OR pursue an amendment to the PEF legislative agenda on this issue so it can be addressed at the next PEF convention.
The PEF convention is the union's highest policymaking body and it is necessary for this body to act in support of this proposal for the PEF legislative office to pursue it on behalf of our union.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you again for reaching out to your union regarding this important issue.
In solidarity,
Patrick
