Clamp down on puppy farming
Clamp down on puppy farming
The Issue
This change will not impact me, my family or my friends directly but it will ensure a long and happy life for dogs in this country. Many of us are paying a lot of money for dogs (pedigree and especially cross breeds) right now and the more we as the public are willing to pay, the more the price increases which in turn encourages breeders to increase the burden they are putting on these poor dogs. Many of the females that have become too old and tired to mother more puppies are then killed as they are surplus’s to requirements. If they are lucky, they will be rescued first by rescue centres which are now bursting at the seams due to this increase in demand for ‘ designer’ dogs. This has to stop. I know of puppy farms that have been in business over 20 years. Who enforces change? Why are we turning a blind eye and why are we encouraging this? Something needs to change. Don’t look away any more
Its not only lack of enforcement that is the problem here. We are also a massive part of the problem. We need to STOP before thinking about buying a cute little puppy and THINK about what’s happening behind the scenes. It’s not pretty. Breeders don’t care about these animals. They care about only the money. Rescue centres are picking up the slack on money from voluntary contributions, whilst breeders are sitting pretty with bank full of notes. It’s evil and we all know it’s happening. Please help them. We all love dogs of course or this wouldn’t be happening but let’s try and enforce fair treatment of dogs
