Help Pace Students get the Refund they Deserve!
Why this petition matters

I am writing this petition to address the email sent to Pace students on April 1st, 2020 regarding the Early Departure Adjustment resident refund. Here is what I am referring to:
“We will adjust housing fees for those students who left residence halls. For New York City students, the adjustment amount is $2,000; for students in Pleasantville and at Haub Law, the adjustment amount is $1,600. These adjustments will be paid to you directly, less any outstanding balances on your student account.”
This calculation of refund for students is INACCURATE. Although this also affects the city campus, I am speaking for the Westchester campus. The beginning of Spring semester was on January 27th 2020. On Tuesday March 10th is when Pace contacted their students by email, text message and phone call to say that classes will be remote starting Wednesday March 11th through Sunday March 29th.
The majority of Pace students were off campus by March 15th (the first day of spring break) if not sooner. The students were on campus from January 27th to March 15. That is equivalent to 49 days, Which is 7 weeks. Spring semester is from January 27th to May 16th. That is 15 weeks and 5 days. Most students spent approximately HALF the semester on campus before being asked to leave, which means residential students should be receiving approximately HALF of our housing payment back.
Students are paying between $5500 and $7800 for housing per semester. $1600 is simply not enough for a refund. It is not even half. Please help us fight this injustice with 1,000 signatures or more.
