As a parent, I've witnessed firsthand the struggles that my children face with online learning platforms like Pearson MyMathLab. This system, which changes questions after only two incorrect answers and restricts the use of the digital textbook to a single tab, has proven more of a hindrance than a help in their education. The frustration it causes is palpable - it's disheartening to see my children lose motivation because they're unable to answer questions correctly within two attempts.

This is not an isolated issue. It's happening in our community here in Clearwater, KS, and likely beyond. The reliance on digital platforms for learning materials is not fostering an environment conducive to effective learning. Instead, it's creating barriers for students who are trying their best to grasp complex concepts.

Studies have shown that physical textbooks can be more effective for comprehension and retention compared with digital ones (source: Association for Psychological Science). Additionally, completing homework assignments on paper allows students the freedom to make mistakes without fear of immediate penalization or question alteration.

In light of these facts and personal experiences, we urge our local school district leaders and educators across all levels - elementary through high school - to mandate the provision of physical textbooks and paper-based homework assignments as part of their curriculum delivery methods. This shift will not only improve student comprehension but also foster a healthier attitude towards education where mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth rather than failures.
