Provide Medical Aid and Legal Protection for Undocumented Ukrainian Patients in the U.S.

Provide Medical Aid and Legal Protection for Undocumented Ukrainian Patients in the U.S.

The Issue

My friend, a Ukrainian national, has been living in the United States without legal documentation for many years. Recently, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. His condition is deteriorating, and he is unable to return to Ukraine for treatment due to the ongoing conflict there. Adding insult to injury, his landlord has evicted him from his home because he can't afford rent due to his medical condition.

There are countless others like my friend who are suffering silently - undocumented immigrants from Ukraine who are battling severe health conditions like cancer but have no access to necessary medical care or legal protection in the U.S. According to a report by Migration Policy Institute (2018), an estimated 5 million undocumented immigrants lack health insurance coverage.

This situation is not just about my friend; it's about human rights and dignity. It's about providing necessary healthcare services regardless of immigration status and protecting vulnerable individuals from eviction during their most challenging times.

We urge lawmakers and relevant authorities in the United States government to create provisions that will allow these individuals access to life-saving treatments without fear of deportation or eviction. We also call on non-profit organizations and charities specializing in immigrant rights and healthcare services to extend their support towards this cause.

Please sign this petition if you believe that every individual deserves access to medical aid irrespective of their immigration status, especially when they're fighting life-threatening diseases like cancer.
