Provide Immediate Rescue to a Starving Horse in Lyons, NE

Provide Immediate Rescue to a Starving Horse in Lyons, NE

The Issue

As an animal activist based in Nebraska, I am deeply troubled by the sight of a starving horse in Lyons, NE. This malnourished creature symbolizes how helpless animals are short-changed in our society, often subjected to neglect and mistreatment.

In reality, there are laws in place to protect animals such as the Nebraska Revised Statue 28-1009 which explicitly states that it is illegal to abandon or cruelly neglect an animal. However, these laws seem to be ineffective in situations where immediate intervention is necessary.

In Lyons, NE, as well as across the country, animals make significant contributions to our lives. They serve as companions, helpers, and teachers of empathy to our children. Yet, the responsibility towards their well-being is sadly overlooked, resulting in cases such as the starving horse, a tragic tale of neglect.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, neglect, including failure to provide necessary food, is one of the most common forms of animal cruelty.

This urgent appeal is for all caring citizens in and around Lyons, and indeed across the U.S., to come together and demand immediate rescue for this suffering horse, emphasizing that animal cruelty and neglect are unacceptable. It is a plea not just for the life of one animal, but for a broader change in attitude and action towards the well-being of all animals in our society.

Let's make a stand against animal neglect. Let's ensure our voice reaches the ears of local authorities to expedite the rescue this horse so desperately needs. Together, let's make Lyons, NE a safe haven for all its creatures.

Please, sign this petition today. Let's not wait till it's too late.

This horse is under the care of Nicole Ziemann at her mother’s property. Burt county sheriff office is aware of the situation but has yet to seize the animal.

The Ziemann are no stranger to the animal cruelty world. Cheryl Ziemann spent jail time in 2008 for animal cruelty and ordered not to own animals for 10 years along with her daughter Nicole. They spent those 10 years hiding horses in several different properties in tree lines to avoid law enforcement.

In 2019 the family was back at it again where it is known that approx 52 horses had died due to their cruel ways. Evidence shows that on one property the poor horses ate away at any wood within reach prior to starving to their death in the hot sun. The only issued citation was given of improper disposal of a carcass.

We need your help now to show Burt County Sheriff office we want something done NOW to stop this family from killing another living being. Think about if you yourself was hungry and feeling as though you were going to pass out and instead of someone helping you get food they put you in the middle of the desert to die in the hot sun as you wither away with pains in your stomach. That is what the Ziemann family of Lyons Ne is doing and Burt County Sheriff office is standing by allowing it to happen. Please sign now!
