Many students, including myself, face the challenge of managing various expenses while attending UC Santa Barbara. Moving to Santa Barbara to further our education and work jobs to support ourselves, we encounter financial demands that can be overwhelming. While some students benefit from financial aid, many do not qualify, leaving them to deal with the full burden of costs, including tuition, housing, and daily necessities. Ontop of these financial strains, the lack of free parking options feels particularly unfair, especially in a city with a significant housing crisis.

With the right funding and institutional support, UC Santa Barbara can provide a more reasonable system that offers free parking to all students. This initiative would not only benefit the students directly impacted but also help the overall campus community by promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
