Provide free community fitness for mums and bubs in Marsfield and Ryde District

Provide free community fitness for mums and bubs in Marsfield and Ryde District
The issue
The Issue 💪
During my second pregnancy, I faced the challenges of motherhood alongside a breast cancer diagnosis. Even after my baby arrived, my recovery continued — and my medical team were clear: fitness and strength training would be as vital as any prescription. Yet affordable, accessible options simply weren't there when I needed them most.
This isn't just my story. Across Marsfield and the Ryde District, new mums are navigating postpartum recovery with little to no support. The postpartum period is critical for physical and emotional healing, yet tailored, affordable fitness programs are nearly impossible to find. 🤱
What We're Asking For 🙌
We're calling on local government to fund free community fitness groups for Mums and Bubs in Marsfield and the Ryde District — programs designed specifically for postpartum recovery, including:
🏋️ Strength & toning exercises targeting the pelvic floor, core, glutes, legs, and upper body
🧘 Low-to-moderate aerobics and mobility work for overall health and wellness
💛 A safe, welcoming space that reduces the risk of postpartum depression and builds community
We propose that local health authorities partner with fitness facilitators, utilising existing community centres to keep costs low and access high.
Why It Matters ❤️
The benefits extend far beyond physical fitness. These programs would foster connection, reduce isolation, and improve quality of life for both mums and their little ones — making our community stronger from the ground up.
By signing, you're championing the health and wellbeing of mothers across Marsfield and Ryde. Let's urge our local council to step up and make free Mums & Bubs fitness a reality. 🌟
Every signature counts. Please sign and share. 📢
