The Issue

Fraserburgh is a town rich in community spirit and dedication to sports. However, it stands alone as the only academy out of 17 in Aberdeenshire that does not have an all-weather pitch on site. This impacts our learners, who currently have to travel to other local facilities even though there is substantial ground available for us to develop our own facility. The absence of an all-weather pitch means missed PE time for students and forces teaching staff to leave campus, disrupting their schedules and limiting opportunities for our children.

We have a realistic and community-driven solution. By installing an all-weather pitch at Fraserburgh Academy, we could significantly enhance our physical education curriculum and provide a seamless experience for both students and staff. This facility would also become home to Link Up Youth Football, which is eager to take over its running. Link Up Youth Football is dedicated to providing training to the approximately 400 boys and girls on their books, helping them learn and thrive in the world of sport.

The impact of not having this facility is profound. Inadequate sports infrastructure not only limits physical education time but also hampers the potential of our youth in sports and teamwork activities. An all-weather pitch will ensure our children have access to proper facilities right on their school grounds, promoting a healthier lifestyle, encouraging team spirit, and fostering their development as they grow.

We need your support to bring this essential improvement to Fraserburgh Academy. By signing this petition, you are advocating for better sports facilities for our children. Let's give them the tools they need to excel, both in academics and in sports. Please sign to help Fraserburgh Academy secure its very own all-weather sports pitch.
