Provide E10 (10% ethanol blending) fuel options for Older Vehicles

Provide E10 (10% ethanol blending) fuel options for Older Vehicles
The Issue
Like tens of crores of people in the country, I own a petrol vehicle which is manufactured prior to 2023. The lack of an E10 fuel option will impact us financially and mentally. There are serious risks of vehicle damage, safety, and fuel economy with E20 petrol for older vehicles.
Increasing ethanol blending to 20% poses a significant threat to countless vehicle owners, particularly those in the lower and middle-income brackets who rely on older vehicles for daily commute and livelihood. Ethanol at this higher concentration can lead to vehicle damage, reduce fuel efficiency, and cause manufacturers to void warranties—leaving owners with expensive repair bills and no support. Furthermore, there's a heightened risk of mid-journey breakdowns, which can jeopardize safety.
Millions of vehicles in our country are primarily older models that were not designed to handle E20 fuel. This abrupt change may not only strain the finances of owners but also disrupt their daily lives. Understandably, newer vehicles can be engineered to handle higher ethanol blends and should be given incentives or options to utilize E20 fuels safely and efficiently.
We urge the honourable Transport Minister to consider the immense impact of this policy on vehicle owners. Until the infrastructure and vehicle compatibility are in place, it is essential to revert to 10% ethanol blending (E10) for regular petrol. This measure will safeguard the interests of millions, ensuring vehicle longevity, safety, and maintaining fuel economy.
Your support in signing this petition can help us urge the government to reconsider this policy, keeping in mind the needs and safety of the common people. Sign today to ensure that every vehicle owner has a fair chance to maintain their vehicle’s health and their financial stability.
