Provide cannabis access to Concord residents

What: Enact a safe and responsible cannabis industry in Concord, CA.
Background: In November 2016 more than 60% of Concord's registered voters supported Prop 64, which expanded access to cannabis by allowing anyone over the age of 21 to purchase cannabis products. Prop 64 also enacted important safety regulations pertaining to cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail.
Problem: Despite the overwhelming support of this initiative by Concord voters, the City Council has not permitted any industry to exist here, thereby requiring their residents to travel to Alameda, Solano, and SF counties to obtain their medications. This is an undue hardship that affects the most vulnerable Concord residents: our sick and aging population.
Call to Action: By signing this petition, I demand that Concord City Council immediately acts to allow a safe and responsible cannabis industry to exist in my city, as we clearly asked for in the 2016 elections and reiterated in a 2017 city survey. Other cities have taken action and are already providing access to their residents. Concord needs to do the same.
If I live in District 5 (Council Member T. McGallian) or District 1 (Council Member L. Hoffmeister) I understand that my council member will be up for re-election in November. If Council Members McGallian and Hoffmeister do not take immediate steps to allow a local cannabis industry, I will support a different candidate at election time.
