Internet access has become a necessity in our modern society, especially for educational purposes. However, many families on fixed incomes struggle to afford this essential service. Children from these households are often at a disadvantage due to lack of internet access for their schoolwork. According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as of 2020, about 21 million Americans do not have access to high-speed internet. This digital divide is even more pronounced among low-income families and rural communities. We urge the government and internet service providers to create affordable options for these vulnerable groups so that no child is left behind in their education due to lack of WiFi access.
