Please sign our petition, set up by local parents, calling on Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to provide an inclusive play area or playground in Deansgrange, County Dublin. 

Why does Deansgrange need a playground?

There are many families living in the area and a number of schools (e.g. Kill O The Grange NS, Gaelscoil Laighean, Hollypark boys and girls schools, the Lycee Francais) and Montessoris (Foxrock Montessori school, Clonkeen Montessori), but no local playground. There is also going to be a creche in the new development on Deansgrange Road. 

Unfortunately there are no playgrounds within an easy walking distance. 

Not only would it benefit our children but we believe it would also help contribute to a greater sense of community.

 

 

Where would it go?

We have an open mind about where the best location would be and what format the play area might take. One idea might be for a natural play area in Clonkeen Park but we would love to hear more suggestions.

What about the traffic?

We understand that in the past there have been concerns about a playground attracting yet more traffic to the area, but there are examples of play areas that serve the local population without becoming a destination, e.g. the simple playground in Springhill Park.

Having play facilities nearby would also help families avoid having to drive to playgrounds further away.
