The issue

In Bedfordale, a beautiful suburb nestled in the Darling Range of Western Australia, we are facing a significant challenge: the lack of public transport. I personally feel the impact of this every day, as do countless others in our community.  The absence of a bus service means we're forced into using our cars for every trip, big or small. With fuel prices skyrocketing due to the war in Iran this is putting an immense financial strain on families. What's more, the reliance on personal vehicles contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, negatively affecting our environment.

A bus service to Bedfordale isn't just a matter of convenience; it's a necessity for economic and environmental reasons.  It would offer greater freedom and mobility to young people, the elderly, and those without access to a car, connecting our community more closely with the surrounding areas.

The benefits extend beyond alleviating individual financial burdens. By reducing the number of cars on the road, a bus service would support Western Australia's commitment to lowering its carbon footprint, aligning with broader efforts to combat climate change. Public transportation is a crucial part of sustainable urban planning, and it's time for Bedfordale to be included in these plans.

Residents of other suburbs have access to government-provided public transport; Bedfordale should be no different. We pay taxes too, and our needs deserve attention and action from the government.

We urge the Western Australian state government to recognize the needs and rights of Bedfordale residents by establishing a bus service to and from our suburb. This move will significantly enhance our quality of life, make our community more environmentally friendly, and set a precedent for other under-served areas.

Please sign this petition to appeal to our government for a greener, more accessible future for Bedfordale and all its residents.
