The Issue

I am a Canadian citizen, and I do not agree with the federal government’s decision to bailout condo developers and bankers in the province of British Columbia. This decision is unfair  to taxpayers who are grappling with skyrocketing housing costs and an unrelenting affordability crisis.

The federal government's intervention is immoral. The actions of the provincial government of British Columbia and Mark Carney’s federal government are essentially picking winners and losers to the detriment of the general public. This action will NOT make housing more affordable in BC. According to the Canadian Real Estate Association, the average home price in BC is over $900,000, pushing countless Canadians out of the housing market entirely. While these developers and banks are clearly experiencing financial difficulty today, one can not overlook the near two decades of economic boom they have experienced. Lack of judgement should not be lain at the feet of the public.

We demand transparency and fairness from our government, particularly regarding fiscal allocations. Citizens should have a say in where and to whom taxpayer funds are distributed. Rather than favouring a select few.

We urge the federal government to reconsider its decision and to halt any plans for bailouts that favour developers and bankers over the citizens. Please sign my petition.
