The Wildcat Den has been a favorite spot on the Davidson campus for years. It offers healthy, varied, and delicious food and drinks that no other dining option on campus has. Closing Wildcat Den has already caused an uproar in the student body, with the Davidsonian already writing an article about it; Chick-Fil-A was supposed to be an additional option on campus, but now it is replacing a beloved, unique, and long-standing restaurant. If both restaurants cannot operate at the same time, the student body should not be the ones suffering from the poor resource management of dining services. The dining services office should reconsider the decision to close Den with student input, and signing this petition will show them the real numbers of upset students. On a campus where healthy, nutritious, and delicious food is already difficult to find, closing arguably the healthiest restaurant on campus in order to open a fast food chain is a grave mistake. Let’s show the Davidson administration that we will not be quiet about this wrongdoing. There must be another solution.
