Protest Safety Feature Restrictions on Tinder Accounts
The Issue
Tinder is able to host free social accounts and maintain safety standards by restricting some features to paying users. Safety features should be available to all users.
Either "match" is able to "un-match" at any time, and the conversion thread disappears instantly from both user accounts. Abusive users are therefore free to erase critical evidence at any time, along with the victim's opportunity to report the offender or suspect. And they do, extensively, because Tinder makes it so easy to get away with it.
All users should have the option to restore, download, and report conversion threads and Matched profiles, even after they or their Matches elect to un-match. This feature should be available through the app's standard features, without requiring the involvement of customer support or legal processes. Other social apps are way ahead of Tinder on this.
European citizens are entitled to detailed user data upon request, under the EU data protection law. America is yet to impose such regulations. Tinder could treat us just as well. They just choose not to. There is no good reason not to make this available as a standard app feature.
