The brutal death of Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022, while in the custody of the "morality police" in Tehran, has sparked waves of protests across the country. The Iranian regime met the protesters, demanding accountability for the death of this 22- year old girl, with brutal violence. Based on reports of United Nation some 14,000 people have been arrested and 300 killed so far. Amnesty International has documented 33 cases of minors killed in the uprising, but the real numbers are likely higher. Iran human rights groups and the association for teachers claim the number closer to 50. The latest case is the death of Kian Pir Falak, a 9 year old boy who was killed on November 16, by bullets of Iranian security forces while he sat in his father's car. 

We write this letter to you to protest against the fact that Unicef, and specially Unicef in Iran, have been negligent and stood away from doing anything to protect the children  from being kidnapped from schools, imprisoned, tortured and killed. Unicef has neither condemned, nor warned the Iranian regime for commiting these crimes. 

Mahtab Keramati, Unicef Goodwill Ambassador in Iran had been widely criticized on social media for being silent about the suppression of children. She said that she has informed the UN Children's Fund about reports of children being killed during the ongoing protests in Iran. On November 17, 2022, she annonced that she resigned from her post.

We demand Unicef to take responsibility and act according to article 19 of its charter which states that all children have the right to be safe from “all forms of physical or mental violence, injury and abuse".

We demand Unicef to take urgent action to ensure the safty of the children in Iran.

نامه اعتراضی به یونیسف در باره کودک کشی در ایران

قتل وحشیانه ژینا مهسا امینی در بازداشت گشت ارشاد تهران در ۱۶ سپتامبر ۲۰۲۲، موجی از اعتراضات را در سراسر کشور براه انداخت. رژیم ایران با خشونت سبعانه به معترضین که خواستار رسیدگی به مرگ این جوان ۲۲ ساله بودند، حمله کرد. طبق گزارش‌ سازمان ملل، تاکنون ۱۴۰۰۰ نفر دستگیر و ۳۰۰ نفر کشته شده اند. سازمان عفو بین الملل قتل ۳۳ کودک را ثبت کرده است، هرچند تعداد واقعی بیشتر است و گروه های حقوق بشر ایران و اتحادیه معلمان این تعداد را حدود ۵۰ نفر ارزیابی می کنند. آخرین مورد شناخته شده، کیان پیر فلک  پسر ۹ ساله ای است که در ۱۶ نوامبر توسط گلوله هایی که پلیس امنیتی بطرف ماشین پدر کیان شلیک کرد، بقتل رسید. هدف ما از ارسال این نامه به شما، هشدار در مورد عملکرد یونیسف و بویژه نمایندگی یونیسف در ایران است که در مواردی که کودکان از مدارس به مکانهای ناشناسی منتقل می شوند، به زندان میفتند، تحت شکنجه قرار می گیرند و به قتل می رسند‌، سکوت اختیار نموده و هیچگونه اعتراضی در مورد کودک کشی رژیم ایران نکرده است.

مهتاب کرامتی، سفیر حسن نیت و صلح یونیسف در ایران، بدلیل عدم توجه یونیسف به کشتار کودکان، در رسانه های اجتماعی مورد انتقاد شدید قرار گرفت.  پاسخ او این بود که وی یونیسف را در جریان گزارش‌های مربوط به کشتار کودکان در جریان اعتراضات جاری در ایران، قرار داده است. مهتاب کرامتی در ۱۶ نوامبر ۲۰۲۲ اعلام کرد که از سمت خود در یونیسف کناره گیری کرده است.

ما خواستار برخورد مسئولانه یونیسف در رابطه با کشتار کودکان در ایران هستیم. یونیسف طبق بند ۱۹ اساسنامه خود "به حق کودکان برای محافظت در برابر هر شکل از خشونت جسمی و روحی، جراحت و سو استفاده‌" تاکید می ورزد.

ما خواستار اقدام عاجل یونیسف برای تامین امنیت کودکان در ایران هستیم.
