Protect Our Seniors: Save the Active & Healthy Program at Upper Coomera Pool!

A tender has been released to privatise the Upper Coomera Aquatic Centre. While the Gold Coast City Council looks to shift management to a private company, hundreds of local seniors are at risk of being priced out of the only exercise and social outlet they have. 
Right now, we attend essential water fitness classes up to four times a week, all year round, under the Council’s Active & Healthy program. Private companies are not automatically required to offer this program.
If the centre is privatised without strict rules, our fees will skyrocket.

For us, this pool isn't just water—it is a community hub.

We support the on-site café, raise money for charity, host monthly lunches, and keep each other physically moving and mentally supported. Forcing costs up means driving attendance down, leaving vulnerable seniors isolated at home.

We are calling on Mayor Tom Tate and GCCC Councillors to: 
Make the Active & Healthy program a mandatory requirement in the final tender. 
Do not let privatisation destroy our community and health!
