The Issue

Hey, my name is Erica Jones im a 9-year domestic survivor I am the Founder and CEO of a non-profit organization called the Vivian Neily Project where I help survivors of domestic violence

Domestic violence continues to devastate families and communities across Georgia. Survivors often live in fear that their abusers will harm them again or harm someone else. Unfortunately, many offenders repeat these crimes against multiple victims because there is no centralized public system that alerts communities about individuals convicted of domestic violence offenses.

We, the undersigned citizens, respectfully call on the Georgia General Assembly to pass legislation establishing a Domestic Violence Offender Registry, similar to the successful model used for the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

A Domestic Violence Registry would:

• Increase public safety by allowing individuals to be informed about repeat domestic violence offenders in their communities.
• Help potential victims make informed decisions when entering relationships.
• Provide law enforcement with a centralized database to track repeat offenders.
• Create greater accountability for individuals convicted of domestic violence crimes.
• Help prevent repeat offenses and escalating violence, including homicide.

Domestic violence is not a private matter—it is a public safety crisis. Victims deserve protection, transparency, and systems that prioritize their safety.

We urge Georgia lawmakers to introduce and pass legislation that would:

Establish a statewide Domestic Violence Offender Registry.
Require individuals convicted of certain domestic violence crimes to register.
Make registry information accessible to the public while protecting victim privacy.
Provide resources for enforcement and monitoring of offenders.
Every year, countless victims suffer in silence, and too many lives are lost to domestic violence. A registry would be a meaningful step toward preventing future abuse and protecting families across Georgia.

We ask our elected officials to stand with survivors and take action now.

Sign this petition to support the creation of a Domestic Violence Offender Registry in Georgia.

Together, we can build a safer future.

“No one should unknowingly enter a relationship with someone who has a documented history of domestic violence. Transparency saves lives.”
