Protecting Our Night Skies

The Issue

Forgotten Stars is a dedicated initiative committed to preserving the natural night sky by combating light pollution. Through advocacy, education, and community outreach, Forgotten Stars raises awareness about the environmental and health impacts of excessive artificial lighting. By protecting our skies, we aim to restore the wonder of the cosmos for current and future generations.

We, the undersigned, believe that the natural night sky is a shared treasure. One that deserves to be protected. Light pollution is rapidly erasing the stars from view, disrupting ecosystems, affecting human health, and disconnecting us from the universe above.

We respectfully urge our local leaders, city planners, and community members to take action by:

- Implementing and enforcing dark-sky-friendly lighting ordinances.
Replacing outdated, unshielded streetlights and outdoor fixtures with energy-efficient, downward-facing alternatives.

- Promoting educational programs that raise awareness about the impacts of light pollution.

- Supporting the creation and protection of dark-sky parks and preserves.
Encouraging responsible outdoor lighting practices among residents and businesses.

Preserving the night sky isn't just about seeing stars, it’s about protecting nature, improving well-being, saving energy, and reconnecting with something bigger than ourselves. Together, through small changes and shared responsibility, we can bring back the stars.
