Why this petition matters

"The law is reason, free from passion."  --  Aristotle

These words mean that one cannot infer their own personal views, ideology, or religious beliefs into their interpretation or application of the law.

First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

These words mean that no person, legislative or judicial body acting as an agent of the United States government (including SCOTUS, POTUS, Congress, and state governors) is allowed to favor the views of one religion over another or to force the views of any one religion upon the whole of the population. These words mean that religion cannot be used as a tool to dictate the laws of this country.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits not only intentional discrimination, but also practices that have the effect of discriminating against individuals because of their race, color, national origin, religion, or sex.

These words mean that, if the Supreme Court were to overturn Roe v. Wade (and possibly Planned Parenthood v. Casey as well), which would then trigger state laws that outlaw abortion & contraception, they would also need to outlaw vasectomy and any surgery that renders a man sterile, including those which might otherwise save the man's life from diseases such as testicular cancer. Without doing these things, simply outlawing only women's reproductive health care choices clearly discriminates on the basis of sex.

Overturning the law of the land, ROE V. WADE, would restrict a woman's right to make her own health care decisions and choices based solely on the basis of her gender. Overturning this law would not limit or restrict men's reproductive health care options; only women's. Discrimination on the basis of gender is a violation of Federal law in the United States.

LIBERTY:
"the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views"

FREEDOM:
"the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint; absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government"

And if, heretofore, the words "MY BODY, MY CHOICE" had no meaning, then they may not therefore be applied to those seeking to avoid vaccination during a public health crisis. There can be no double-standard in the application of the basic principles of law.

Yet, should we allow those who seek to illegally enforce Christian doctrine upon all persons in the United States, regardless of an individual's Constitutional right to religious freedom, then one must be reminded that Christian-Judeo faiths believe that 'life begins with the first breath' as stated in Genesis 2:7 ("And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.")  An unborn child does not breathe in the womb. The first breath is taken immediately after birth.

"The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman's life, to her well-being and dignity... When government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a fully adult human responsible for her own choices."
--  Ruth Bader Ginsburg

In support of a woman's right to freely make her own reproductive health decisions based on her own personal beliefs and with the advice & guidance of her physician, without oppression by the United States government, We The People put our hand to this PROTECT ROE V WADE petition electronically...
