We recommend all Lakewood voters return your mail in ballots and Vote YES on April 7, 2026 to Repeal Radical Rezoning.
Reminder 2026 - This petition has also asked Lakewood to protect wildlife via open space buffers in addition to protecting Belmar Park. While much attention has been given to protecting Belmar Park, the City of Lakewood has ignored your signatures on both asks of this petition.
Even though this petition was included in public input regarding the new and extreme rezoning of the entire city, Lakewood City Council totally ignored the need for wildlife buffers and totally ignored all of the 7,600+ signatories to this petition and adopted their rezoning while giving all of you a giant poke in the eye.
Because Lakewood has moved forward with radical rezoning of the entire city that totally ignores the request for wildlife buffers including your input and signatures,
We recommend all Lakewood voters Vote YES on April 7, 2026 to Repeal Radical Rezoning.
More info here (donations accepted) on the radical rezoning of Lakewood, Colorado. Also see this webpage!
The Lewis Policy Center for Regional Policy Studies at UCLA published in 2024 that 'upzoning' increased rents and housing prices and gentrification in New York city. Black-majority and low-income neighborhoods experienced gentrification to the greatest extent. These impacts are the opposite of what Lakewood thinks will happen. Their radical rezoning will backfire on them if it is not repealed. And it does nothing to establish critically needed wildlife buffer zones in Lakewood, Colorado.
This is the 23rd petition update. Thank you for paying attention and staying engaged.
