Save Belmar Park, Inc. is a 501(c)3 tax deductible non-profit. The organizers have raised over $34,000 via their GoFundMe campaign. They have also retained a land use attorney who is representing the interests of the group and those who share their values as described in the pleading to the court. However, additional funds are needed for court costs including a possible lump sum payment required in advance by the court.
The recent decision of Lakewood's Planning Commission is NOT FINAL because it is now beginning the judicial review process.

Here is an update from Regina at Save Belmar Park, Inc. -
Our grassroots movement to protect the park, its remaining trees, wildlife and sanctity of the area has grown stronger every day.
We’re now approaching a crucial moment: our court hearing is scheduled for May 27th at 9:00 AM in Jefferson County District Court.
We welcome respectful, peaceful supporters to wear green in solidarity for the trees as we stand up for the voiceless in our community and protect what makes Lakewood unique.
Why this hearing matters:
This court hearing will decide whether Kairoi Development can move forward with permanently altering the site while the City’s decision is still under judicial review. This means the future of the remaining trees—and the integrity of Belmar Park itself—hinges on what happens next in court.
If we win:
We will likely be required to post a significant bond – which will be set by the judge. We anticipate it will be a significant amount. If we win the preliminary injunction this will pause all work on the site until we wait to be heard for out 106(a) appeal. This is a steep challenge, and we’re urgently fundraising to meet this goal by Tuesday. Our goal is to raise $50,000. Every dollar brings us closer to protecting these trees and stopping irreversible damage.
If we lose this hearing:
We will continue our fight through the Colorado Rule 106(a) appeal. If that appeal succeeds and Kairoi begins construction despite the legal risks, they could be forced to dismantle their building—meaning our fight is far from over.
Your support is vital in this fight—not just financially, but in spirit. Together, we are giving voice to the voiceless—standing up for our community, protecting our environment, and defending what matters for future generations.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us.
In solidarity,
Regina
