Protect Voter Privacy — Stop the Federal Push for Personal Voter Data

Protect Voter Privacy — Stop the Federal Push for Personal Voter Data
The Issue
The federal government has just sued six more states for refusing to hand over detailed voter data—including names, birthdates, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and even partial Social Security numbers.
That brings the total to 14 states now being taken to court by the Department of Justice, as it expands a secretive campaign to collect massive voter lists from across the country.
This isn't about transparency—it’s about surveillance.
The DOJ claims it's trying to "clean up voter rolls." But the same administration has floated voter citizenship purges, asylum bans, and even stripping naturalized citizens of their status. Now, they want the personal information of every registered voter in multiple states—and some are complying.
We must stop this overreach now.
We call on Congress, the courts, and state governments to:
- Block the DOJ from collecting sensitive voter information without strict legal limits
- Protect personally identifiable data from being used for immigration enforcement or partisan targeting
- Support states refusing to comply with unlawful federal data grabs
- Ensure that no voter is purged, profiled, or punished based on race, ethnicity, citizenship status, or voting history.
Every American deserves to vote freely, privately, and without fear. But this wave of lawsuits threatens to undermine trust in our election systems—and expose voters to identity theft, political intimidation, or worse.
State election officials are right to resist. They know this data belongs to the people, not to partisan agendas or secret databases.
Say no to mass surveillance. Say yes to voter privacy.
