The Issue

In the fall of 2025, Vallejo has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reclaim something truly extraordinary—land that has long been held by the Navy is finally being released back to the city. These parcels are not just empty lots. They are places of natural beauty, rich with potential, and they deserve to be preserved for the public—not handed over for commercial development.

That’s why a passionate group of Vallejo residents, led by community advocate Jimmy Genn, is calling for this land to be transformed into a regional park—a space for families, hikers, nature lovers, and future generations to enjoy.

To help spread this vision, local filmmaker Haris Le’Monti has created a powerful short film that brings this dream to life. Through breathtaking visuals and the heartfelt narration of Helen Cates, the film captures the essence of what this land could become: a peaceful, vibrant park that honors Vallejo’s natural heritage and boosts the city’s cultural and economic vitality.

We believe Vallejo’s future isn’t just about more restaurants, businesses or event spaces—it’s also about building a destination where people can reconnect with nature, with each other, and with what makes this city so special.

We’re calling on city leaders and stakeholders to protect this land and designate it as a regional park. Let’s invest in something lasting. Let’s create a space that inspires, heals, and brings us together. Let’s protect space for the generations to come.

Please sign this petition to show your support, and share the film with your community. Together, we can help shape a greener, more connected Vallejo.
