Today, we stand united against a disturbing provision included in The National Defense Authorization Act, a provision that threatens to block healthcare for the transgender children of military service members.

We deeply understand the sacrifices that families make in defense of our nation. Denying these children their right to medically necessary care is not only cruel but also fundamentally contrary to the values we hold as a nation. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, transgender youth have a significantly higher risk of suicide and depression. Withholding healthcare services from them can heighten these risks. There are thousands of military families whose children's healthcare could be adversely affected by this Act.

 President Biden, we ask for your leadership in protecting the rights and well-being of these children - the children of those who serve our country every day. Please Veto the National Defense Authorization Act unless this discriminatory provision is removed.
