Protect the safety of Paddlers, Rowers and Swimmers on Lake Samish.

Protect the safety of Paddlers, Rowers and Swimmers on Lake Samish.
The Issue
Lake Samish belongs to everyone. But a group of power boaters is pushing the Whatcom County Council to cut safety measures for swimmers and paddlers in half so they will have more room to waterski and speed around the lake. They also seek to reduce the no-wake zone that has come to be known as The Lake Samish Paddlers' Sanctuary by 80%.
If you swim, paddle, row or just enjoy sitting on the shoreline of Lake Samish this is a threat to your rights and safety. Lake Samish currently enjoys the same safety zone (300 feet from shore) that Lake Whatcom has had for decades. For those of us who cannot afford a $70,000 wake boat it is one of the few parts of Lake Samish we get to enjoy. Tell the Whatcom County Council that you won't see it taken away.
Please sign this petition to the Whatcom County Council and forward it to three other paddlers, rowers or swimmers. When the council meets on January 28, 2020 they will know how we feel.
