I am a transgender teen, and I am deeply concerned about the increasing challenges and restrictions being imposed on trans teenagers in schools and beyond. Alongside many of my friends, who are also transgender, I have faced numerous obstacles that prevent us from living our lives authentically and honestly. These limitations are not only an invasion of our personal freedom, but they are also life-threatening. I have witnessed people within my community, overwhelmed by the pressure and discrimination, make the heartbreaking decision to end their lives.

This petition seeks to ensure the rules concerning trans teenagers, particularly in school settings, remain unchanged or better yet, strengthened to ensure protection and acceptance. Transgender students, like any other human being, deserve the right to a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that allows them to express their true selves. They should not be marginalized or bullied, nor should they be subjected to policies that compromise their well-being.

According to research, nearly 40% of transgender youth have attempted suicide, largely due to bullying and lack of support. We cannot afford to stand idle while these numbers rise; it's imperative that schools across the country uphold and promote inclusive practices to safeguard all students' mental health and dignity. Educational institutions should serve as safe havens for learning and growth, not as battlegrounds for identity recognition.

We urge school boards, educational policymakers, and government representatives to uphold current protections for trans students and to actively work towards creating more inclusive policies. This includes providing gender-neutral bathrooms, implementing inclusive curriculums that reflect diverse identities, and conducting mandatory training for staff on transgender issues and rights.
