The Guardian today exposes the shocking treatment of Dr Raj Mattu and other whistleblowers - but no-one has been held to account for it. That's why we need Edna's Law so urgently. It is the single most effective way to stop wrongdoing and protect the public, and to stop waste of our public money too. We don't want our public money wasted on huge legal costs, we just want the problems put right when notified and the whistleblowers properly looked after. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/nov/22/there-were-hundreds-of-us-crying-out-for-help-afterlife-of-whistleblower?CMP=twt_gu#_=_ Also this week, many Radio4 PM listeners were outraged and alarmed by hearing a very complacent CQC inspector's response to a Resident reporting clear indicators of abuse. The CQC tried to reassure us by saying it was a two day inspection. Eileen Chubb's response: We only heard half their incompetence re abuse signs. We clearly cannot rely on the CQC. Undercover journalists like those on Panorama's Winterbourne View and Old Deanery cannot be everywhere where wrongdoing is happening and whistleblowing issues are not only in care and the NHS. We urgently need the strong deterrent of Edna's Law to motivate senior people to listen and to act on concerns raised - or to be held accountable if they do not. So please keep sharing the petition link, thank you.
