The Issue

Our precious Mussoorie forest, home to rich flora, fauna and wildlife, stands at the brink of potential eradication due to a planned expressway at the expense of 18,000 + trees. However, the permanence of this green cover is indisputably more valuable than the fleeting convenience of another road. The excessive tourism in Mussoorie has led to climate change in the area, manifested through rising temperatures, water shortage, erratic rainfall and snowfall, alongside the proliferation of mosquitoes and flies. Our flora and fauna are paying the cost of these damaging changes.

Additionally, the so-called development that justifies the deforestation is in reality a threat to our environmental wealth. The forest's role in carbon absorption, providing a habitat for wildlife, and averting soil erosion goes beyond monetary value. Therefore, it's crucial that we focus on other serious issues to improve the current scenario instead of cutting down our forests.

Let's unite to advocate for the protection of our Mussoorie forest and oppose the expressway project that incites significant environmental destruction. One tree at a time, we can preserve our climate and ensure a healthier, sustainable future for Mussoorie. Please sign the petition to urge the responsible authorities to halt this indiscriminate felling.

We are not against development but it pains to see Mussoorie in crisis just for the greed of few
