Protect the Kelsey creek schoolhouse from bad development

Protect the Kelsey creek schoolhouse from bad development
The Issue
Greetings,
The Lucerne Area Revitalization invites you to join us in asking the Lake County Board of Supervisors to uphold the Lake County Planning Commission’s thorough, thoughtful and wise denial of Higher Ground Farms’ deeply flawed and dangerous cannabis project at 3545 Finley East Road, Kelseyville, next door to the historic Kelsey Creek Schoolhouse.
What makes the Planning Commission’s decision so remarkable is that it has a history of approving a majority of the cannabis projects that come before it. This is not an anti-cannabis body, but one that has green-lighted dozens of cannabis projects. Yet, in this case, it weighed the concerns with the Higher Ground Farms and found the project so deficient in its planning and conception that it rejected it out of hand.
“We don’t do this very often,” one Commissioner said after the vote to deny the project.
The crux of the issue is that while the Planning Commissioners denied the project in a rare move, the Lake County Community Development Department has determined to ask the board to defy their own commissioners, without explanation, simply because the applicant says the project is legit.
That claim is based on a severely flawed initial study that has never been corrected in spite of demonstrable falsehoods, errors and omissions.
Why Community Development thinks its a good idea to destroy what has been called a "sacred view-shed" by the Planning Commission is anybody's guess.
If you'd like to stand with LARA to preserve the only existing 150 year old schoolhouse location in the entire county for future generations, please add your name.
Thank you for your time and for your support.
