The beautiful green field at Kingsley Avenue/Lowfields Avenue in Eastham, cherished by generations, is under threat. The field holds Green Belt status and is a sanctuary for wildlife and a treasured space where our children can play freely and safely. If the field was reclassified as Grey Land, to allow for the construction of a housing estate, we would loose that cherished space forever.

The field's Green Belt status is not just a label; it represents our commitment to preserving open spaces that provide ecological benefits and improve the quality of life for residents. The planned development would lead to increased urban sprawl, stretching infrastructure past its already bursting limits and drawing new homes uncomfortably close to the motorway. This will result in congestion, pollution, and a diminished quality of life for all who call Eastham home.

Evidence supports our concern: studies show that urban sprawl can increase traffic congestion, heighten pollution levels, and degrade local ecosystems. Here, the results would be even more pronounced. Access would be via Eastham Rake and Mill Park Drive and residents already experience increased congestion, particularly during rush hour,  This field also acts as an essential buffer, reducing noise pollution from the motorway.

Wirral Council's planning committee is in a position to uphold or undermine the integrity of our Green Belt. We urge the committee to honor their responsibility to current and future residents by denying the reclassification and subsequent planning permissions that would irrevocably change the face of our community.
