Today we have hit the Landmark of over 1,762. signatures.
The photo is of the “pond” which was like this for 8 months of the Year even with the Wettest July on Record and a Wet August. Now is filled to Capacity ! When viewed from some distance , can seem attractive when full, but looks can be deceptive. Viewed closer , and from many points in the Valley it is a blot on the landscape, with its embankments and down trodden banks by cattle , tumbling into the Cot Stream causing irreparable damage to the waterway.
Below are some comments which have been made this week by local Residents taken at random.
We think this retrospect planning should be seriously reconsidered when so many concerns are raised :-
Cot Valley should be treasured and valued , along with all that is left of our truly wild places. This beautiful part of our County is a rare and endangered place and home to a huge plant and animal Bio-diversity. Cot valley has a value above any dam or development and must be protected.
Irreversible damage to this place is not the way to improve lives.
I have just been to the Cot Valley just for its beauty. Don’t, please DONT, ruin it!
I love this Valley and don't want any developments here.
I object to the changing of the landscape and the interference with the natural course of the river. It disrupts plant and animal life, not just in the immediate area but also the Land above and below it. It changes the landscape of a place so many people enjoy walking through. Especially for its natural, ancient beauty. I don’t understand what the stone gates pillars in the middle of the field are for?
Cot Valley is a beautiful place and should not be developed. It needs to be protected.
Many magic memories.
I am unhappy that an ancient valley and landscape and its habitats, such as the Cot , might be altered for the sake of one person to the detriment of others. Development of The Cot valley appears to have increased indiscriminately over recent years.
Cot Valley is an area that must be protected for its unique ecology and history of mining.Altering the terrain with a dam will have a disastrous impact in this unique place
This kind of vandalism should not go unchallenged
It is totally unacceptable that any person should just attack/cut down /carve the landscape/ re route a stream with no regard to legislation. Are the water board/waterways not helping with this. What is the National Trusts stance? What about Cornwall WildLife Trust?
I have a longstanding relationship with the Valley going back several generations. This pond has no benefit to nature nor does it enhance the Valley in any way.
I have visited this beautiful, almost hidden, little Valley many times when in Cornwall. It is a wonderful bird and wildlife haven, the dawn chorus here is breathtaking. It has very special memories for me, It should not be compromised by any schemes that set a precedent in a place of outstanding beauty. Beauty does not have to be big, it can be smaller, and fullof natural life.
Cot Valley has my heart! It must be protected.
I am actually more concerned about the associated barbed wire fencing, the blocking of ancient gateways and footpaths. Particularly access to Tom Thumb Rock, and a short cut from Bosorne to Bosavern farm
