Protect SF Civic Innovation: Save Solve SF!

The Issue

The SF 311 department plans to shut down Solve SF on July 12th, crippling our ability to easily report issues on our streets. This move would end the Open311 API, which has been in place for over a decade, without providing an alternative.

We urge you to take action and protect Solve SF, a vital tool that has already made a significant impact in San Francisco. With over 18,000 reported issues in less than four months, Solve SF has proven its importance in improving our city.

Why Save Solve SF?

  • Solve SF has already made a significant impact in San Francisco, with over 18,000 reported issues in less than four months.
  • The app has reduced the number of steps to report an issue from 12 to 2, making it easier for residents to report problems.
  • Closing Solve SF would stifle community-led solutions that improve our city and force us to rely on under-resourced departments that would need to spend millions to achieve a fraction of what's being offered for free.

The Story Behind Solve SF

I created Solve SF because I was frustrated with the cumbersome reporting process of the SF 311 app, which took at least 12 steps to report even simple issues like trash or graffiti. As a semi-frequent user of the app, I saw an opportunity to improve the process and make it easier for residents to report problems.

With the help of AI, I developed Solve SF, an app that allows users to report issues with just a photo, reducing the number of steps from 12 to 2. My goal is to make Solve SF the best way to report issues in the city, and I'm committed to continuing its development and improvement.
