Dear supporters,
We have crossed over 70,000 supporters. I’m so humbled by your support to our small community. On 29 January, we met with Anthony Lynham’s Chief of Staff and Water Policy Executive in Brisbane. They are investigating the problem and working towards a positive outcome.
Please share the petition and help us grow our campaign.
We are grateful to Simon Zanatta, his Chief of Staff and David Whiska, Executive Director of Water Policy for meeting with us. They have sent a delegation to Tamborine Mt to assess possible solutions. We will know more in February.
We hope the Minister recognises the urgency of our situation and our dependence on local water. We are the largest community in Qld (7500 people) without reticulated water and sewerage. We are virtually living off grid.
He must prioritise action to preserve our water for local and environmental use. He must stop the unrestricted extraction of our precious groundwater by the bottled water industry - a wasteful and unethical industry that we don’t need in Australia where we are blessed with clean drinking water. Without urgent action to stop commercial extraction now, our ancient, deep-water aquifers could dry up completely.
Please, continue sharing the petition. We need all of QLD and the rest of Australia to join us in our fight to keep Tamborine Mts' ground water here, where nature intended, to supply the rainforests, creeks and platypus, not in the plastic bottles of soft drink corporations.
