Dear supporters, I’m thrilled to share with you that our voices have been heard, we have won! Effective today, a 12-month moratorium has been issued over all commercial water miners on Tamborine Mountain. This means that no new bores or drilling can go ahead in our area while a water management study is being conducted. I am thankful to the Minister's Chief of Staff for hearing our concerns, and responding to our petition. Most of all, I'm thankful to our wonderful supporters. It has been a long journey, but a most fulfilling one. Each and every person who has signed this petition shares this victory with us. Our little community couldn’t have done it without you. We are 8000+ residents on Tamborine Mt dependent on bore and rain water as our only water supply. In the next few months, the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy will collect water use data and monitor bores to understand current and future needs of the area. The department has also promised to work on greater transparency on water use practices of the commercial water industry. I have felt the force of the entire country backing us and supporting us. In the background of the terrible fires and severe drought, witnessing national solidarity with our campaign has been incredible. People power can truly transform our society. Julie
