Lake Moultrie has long been a place where responsible outdoorsmen, fishermen, and hunters enjoy South Carolina’s natural resources. Airboats are essential for safely navigating the shallow marshes and vegetation surrounding the lake—especially at night.

A proposed nighttime airboat ban would hurt far more than recreation. South Carolina’s alligator hunting season brings visitors from across the country and around the world to Lake Moultrie. These hunters support local guides, fish camps, motels, restaurants, processors, and taxidermists throughout the region.

A blanket ban would damage local businesses and long-standing outdoor traditions while penalizing responsible operators.

Instead of banning nighttime airboat use, we encourage solutions such as reasonable muffler regulations, minimum operating distances from residences, and enforcement of existing boating laws.

Lake Moultrie is a shared resource. Let’s protect both our community and responsible access to the lake.
