Hi everyone,

Today I wrote a completely different write up about the petition and changed the petition link to avoid it from being flagged in some way. I posted it on the Saskatchewan premier's Facebook page in a comment to his October 6 post stating: "At their provincial convention over the weekend...."

____________

Dear Hon. Scott Moe and People of Saskatchewan,

This is a province-wide public safety request. It directly impacts residents in Saskatchewan’s long-term care (LTC).

I have been trying to post about this on the Facebook pages of all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), regardless of political party, because this affects all constituencies. All MLAs are accountable to this. However, Facebook algorithms flagged and restricted its outreach because I was posting a similar message many times in a short period of time. I was temporarily restricted to posting things. Lately, I’ve been able to post about this, but my comments sometimes aren’t viewable by people. This issue is important, and people have the right to know.

This petition calls for a simple but critical change to the provincial LTC standards: requiring LTC staff who provide care to a resident to read and understand that resident’s current care plan, not just have access to it (as the current LTC standard states). Our MLAs can easily support and make this change within their authority, specifically the premier, Minister of Health, and Cabinet.

Together we can strengthen safety for LTC residents and better support LTC staff.

To view this petition, the link below needs to be copy-pasted into the address bar. Important note: I added 3 * symbols in the link address for people reading this to delete first before hitting enter to view the petition. I think the petition link may have been flagged by Facebook as spam, a bot, or something. By doing this, I hope people can see this message and view the petition properly.

Thank you for your time and for helping ensure that this vital issue reaches all communities in Saskatchewan, despite the censorship happening.

My comment appears to only be viewable to me and my Facebook friends. Anyone who is not my Facebook friend does not seem to be able to see it. The other hundreds of thousands of people who should be able to see my comment cannot. This is censorship. It's either from a Facebook algorithm or something else. This is likely happening on other MLA pages I've written on. Most of the time, there have been no reactions or comments at all, which is very odd.

It would be greatly appreciated if other people could try to post my petition on MLA Facebook pages, especially ones like the premier who have very large followings and outreach ability. Here's an example to copy/paste and use:

Dear People of Saskatchewan,

This petition is having difficulty circulating across the province due to censorship, either by Facebook algorithms or something else. It calls for a change to the Saskatchewan long-term care (LTC) standards to require staff providing care to always read and understand a resident's current care plan, and not only have access to it (as the current standard states). This is a safety request impacting all constituencies.
