Dear Petition Supporters,

I hope you’re all well. I want to provide an update and thank you for following this issue. I am learning a great deal through this process.

1.      Thank you for your support, your signatures, your shares, and for taking the time to read and talk about this long petition.

2.      I received valued questions and feedback from the first version of the petition that I appreciate. Based on that, I added small additions to the petition to make it even stronger. This may continue based on further responses. However, the specific request for the LTC standard change will never change and will always stay the same.

3.      I started posting the petition on all MLAs' Facebook pages. It is important that all Saskatchewan people in all constituencies are aware of this safety issue. Facebook flagged me because I was posting too much of the same thing in a short period of time. It apparently has algorithms that do this to prevent spam and bots, etc. So, despite the importance of the message, I was restricted from posting for a while.

4.      Since then, I have been allowed to post again, but I must post very slowly. However, my posts appear to be inconsistent to viewers. Some people can see my comments sharing my petition, while others cannot. This is a form of censorship. It means that many people are not even being allowed to be informed about this safety issue in the first place. People have the right to be aware of this, which is not happening.

At this time, I am asking all people reading this to share this petition in every way you can. I have also been reaching out to news outlets to get it out faster.

If anyone wants a message to copy/paste to use, here’s something to make it easier:

Dear People of Saskatchewan,

This is a province-wide public safety request. It directly impacts residents in Saskatchewan’s long-term care (LTC).

This petition calls for a simple but critical change to the provincial LTC standards: requiring LTC staff who provide care to a resident to read and understand that resident’s current care plan, not just have access to it.

Together we can strengthen safety for LTC residents and better support LTC staff.

Thank you for your time and for helping ensure that this vital issue reaches all communities in Saskatchewan.
