Redevelopment has been characterized as the benefactor of wealthy private developers and an enemy of the schools, but it is critical that you look beyond that misperception to find the real story.  Cutting one dollar in redevelopment funds eliminates 13 dollars in future tax revenue.  Redevelopment creates jobs, provides affordable housing, supports small businesses, and promotes sustainability.   Redevelopment matters to me.  It matters to my neighbors.  It matters to California.  There may be no easy answers to California’s budget challenges, but we need redevelopment in order to continue strengthening our communities.  Please oppose the Governor’s proposal to end redevelopment.
