Since the last update, the Deputy Premier and Planning Minister, Jarrod Bleijie, has officially called-in the Tourist Park development application at Coochin Creek, directly adjacent to the environmentally sensitive and Ramsar-listed Pumicestone Passage. His decision on whether to call-in the massive Coochin Fields Music Festival development application will be made within the next two weeks.
If both developments are approved, they will cover nearly 200 hectares of land adjacent to the Passage, Coochin Creek and National Park – all within the Northern Interurban Break. This is not just a planning issue—it’s an environmental crisis in the making.
💥 This would be a wrecking ball through one of Queensland’s most ecologically sensitive areas.
The community, Council and State agencies have all raised serious concerns regarding its incompatibility with the area. Yet, with Ministerial calls-ins, the community will lose its right to:
- have access to all the information relevant to the assessment and the decision
- appeal the decision.
📢 We need your help now more than ever.
Show the Minister that Queenslanders will not stand by while our environment and planning systems are undermined.
