The Issue

Students in Plano ISD should never feel unsafe or unwelcome because of their faith. Yet reports of antisemitic rhetoric and biased teaching materials have shaken families across the district. Parents say classroom discussions have crossed into hostility, pro-Palestinian walkouts were excused without balance, and complaints about anti-Israel or antisemitic rhetoric went unanswered.

This month, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation, citing evidence that Plano ISD “permitted and facilitated antisemitic behavior” in classrooms and school activities. While the district has authorized an outside audit, Jewish families in Plano are demanding more than paperwork. They want assurance that their children will not be singled out, marginalized, or silenced in the very place meant to educate and protect them.

Antisemitism in schools is not just a Jewish issue — it’s a community issue. When hate is tolerated, all students lose trust in the system. When complaints are ignored, victims are left vulnerable. Plano ISD leaders must show parents and students that they take this problem seriously by committing to real change: transparent reporting systems, mandatory training for teachers, swift disciplinary responses, and open communication with parents.

Students deserve classrooms that promote learning, not fear. Teachers deserve clear guidance that upholds free discussion without crossing into hostility or bias. And families deserve confidence that Plano ISD will act decisively to root out antisemitism wherever it appears.

We call on Plano ISD Superintendent Theresa Williams, the Plano ISD School Board, and Board President David Stolle to adopt stronger protections against antisemitism in every Plano school. An independent audit is only the beginning — Jewish students need proactive action, not just reactive studies.

Every child has the right to learn in safety and dignity. Plano ISD must prove, through action, that it will not tolerate antisemitism in its classrooms.
