City of Parramatta deserves a better, genuinely innovative, heritage and wildlife friendly Project. Thanks to all of you - 500 caring objectors now giving a voice to the Wildlife the civil engineers and landscape designers forgot in the methodology of the exhibited Concept plan.

RE: Western River Precinct Connections WICR313
Requesting the Concept Plan to be withdrawn and for Council to Re-exhibit an Alternate Precinct Solution. Wildlife friendly and Non-destructive best-practice is demanded from these State funded active-cycleway additions upstream of Marsden Weir. The project must promote CBD Habitat, Water Quality and Design for Country in genuine ecological leadership. Specifically - to not just 'tweak and respond to objections' but to:
- Protect natural-functioning riverbank and native landmark trees
- Relocate new bridge to align beside Marsden St & respect views
- Rehabilitate the low flood-shoulder as wildlife habitat at OKS
- Design a Boardwalk fully above water, excluding concrete walls
- Create a Boardwalk link ramp as ecological & cultural city feature - 'a landmark artwork solution'
We all want better cycleways upstream to connect the Rivercat Boardwalk, the Riverside Theatres V.2, and pathways in World Heritage Parramatta Park.
REASON. This State Funded Council Project must not 'destroy' our unique naturally functioning riverbanks by blind-siding the City's heritage and ecological values on both sides of the river.
The precinct between Bernie Banton (Marsden St) & Rings Bridge (O'Connell St) is highly significant. It deserves a far more sensitive turtle & waterbird friendly, respectful alternate solution that actually Designs with Burramatta Country for a genuinely green-connected future.
